Tax 2020 Denton Tap Road Intersection Improvements
A design contract for the reconstruction of four intersections along Denton Tap Road was awarded to Kimley-Horn in the Summer of 2019. Those four intersections are: Parkway, Southwestern, Sandy Lake, and Bethel School. The project consists of:
- Construction of turn lanes
- Reconstruction of sidewalks and ramps
- Traffic signal work
The project was awarded to Rebcon Inc. for a total contract amount of $2,777,148.70. Construction began in the Spring of 2021 and is anticipated to complete in the Fall of 2022.
Pre-construction meeting was held on 04-15-2021. The project began on 04-19-2021. This project is 87% complete. Signal and paving work is currently in progress at S Denton Tap Rd & Bethel School Rd intersection. Southwestern Blvd & S Denton Tap Rd turn lane is complete. N Denton Tap & Parkway Blvd intersection is complete and Sandy Lake Rd & N Denton Tap Rd intersection is complete. The improvement of the right turn lane on the SH 121 Service Road & N Denton Tap Rd have begun.
ST 16-01A S Belt Line Road
Tax 2021A Dividend Drive, Mockingbird Lane, & Falcon Lane Panel Replacement
The design for the panel replacement project of Dividend Drive, Mockingbird Lane, and Falcon Lane was completed by the City of Coppell’s Public Works Department. The project consists of:
- Full depth concrete panel replacement
- Pot holes and cracked panels will be addressed
The project was awarded to Advanced Contracting for a total contract amount of $1,457,364.00. Construction to begin in the Summer of 2022 and to be completed Winter 2023.
Construction began on 06-01-2022. This project is 40% complete. Falcon Lane construction is underway, as well as, Mockingbird Lane. Dividend Drive is next.
Tax 2021A Royal Lane Asphalt Overlay
The complete reconstruction of Royal Lane is currently in the early stages of design. This project is an asphalt overlay that will be completed in the meantime. The project includes:
- An asphalt overlay on sections of Royal Lane to extend the life of the current pavement riding surface
The project is in conjunction with Dallas County for a total contract amount of $98,500. Construction to begin in the Late Summer of 2022 and will be completed in the Fall of 2022.
The Pre-Construction meeting was held at the end of July 2022. Milling and overlay began at the end of July 2022. Substantial construction will be completed by the end of August 2022 and the project will complete at the end of September 2022.

Tax 2022A Royal Lane Reconstruction
A design contract for the reconstruction of Royal Lane was awarded to Teague, Nall, & Perkins in the Spring of 2022 in the amount of $1,403,000. The project consists of pavement reconstruction, utility upgrades, and sidewalk improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2023.

Tax 2018A Spanish Moss Drive & Jeb Court
A design contract for the reconstruction of Spanish Moss Drive and Jeb Court was awarded to Huitt Zollars, Inc. in the Summer of 2019 in the amount of $200,295. The project consists of complete pavement reconstruction, utility upgrades, and sidewalk improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2024.
Tax 2019B Southwestern Boulevard
A design contract for the reconstruction of Southwestern Blvd was awarded to Kirkman Engineering in the Fall of 2020 in the amount of $202,700. The project consists of pavement reconstruction, utility upgrades, sidewalk improvements, and drainage improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025.

Sidewalk Repair Process
- The damaged sidewalk is demolished and removed
- The ground is compacted and prepared
- Wood forms are set and rebar is placed
- Concrete is poured and cures/dries typically 24 to 72 hours
- Control joints are saw-cut and sealant is applied to expansion joints, if any
